Profile

Wesley Carr is a yacht designer with 25 years marine industry experience both as a lead in-house designer and as a consultant to a variety custom yacht and production boat builders. Wesley studied Industrial Design at Auburn University and first specialized in production boat design with positions at Chris Craft Boats, Monterey Boats, and US Marine. His extensive in-house product development experience established an in-depth knowledge of the product market definition, engineering, manufacturing, cost control, project management, and customer service that leads to business success, and of the customers that will enjoy life aboard the end product!

In 1995, Wesley became the designer for Trident Shipworks producing several yachts all of which were, at the launch date, among America's 100 largest yachts of all time. His design development and creative direction was responsible for the exterior designs and the interior layouts, architectural details, furnishings, and pilothouse configurations. Wesley also provided marketing support for new business development, press communications, and client relations from boatshow through design development, to launch date. Westship World Yachts acquired Trident Shipworks in 2000 and continued to build designs developed during his tenure.

Wesley has served as vice-chair for the IDSA Florida Chapter, on the advisory committee of the Art Institute of Lauderdale's Industrial Design Department, and as a guest speaker for pre-college career development seminars. He is also a competitive sailor and Ironman triathlete.

As principal of Carr Design, his focus is to provide design services to builders of custom and series yachts, as well as commercial vessels, furniture design, and various other cool projects. Recent projects range from the exterior design and tooling development for Sea Force IX sportfish models, and production model development for Jupiter and Intrepid Powerboats.

Wesley's projects and those of Carr Design have been well recognized in the marine industry as ‘Best of the Best’ (Boating Magazine), ‘Innovation Leader’ (Popular Mechanics Magazine), ‘Breathtaking’ (Chris Craft president John Keim), and Chicago Boat Show Award Winner (Motorboating and Sailing).
